Rebecca + Jonathan = Engaged

So it’s January and it’s still in the mid-60s. I’ve never seen anything like it in my career, but it does mean that we can basically shoot year round, so that’s good for business! We managed to get Rebecca and Jonathan in this week for their engagement session. They’re an amazing couple with great style and lots of love for each other. They’re so comfortable together that it makes it extremely easy to photograph them. Their session makes me even more excited for their wedding this year! Check out the images above for some of my favorites. Enjoy!

Baby Maria is on the way!

Surprise, surprise! We found out in a hurry yesterday that Baby Maria needed to come a few weeks early. Annie and I have been camped at the hospital since Thursday afternoon waiting on delivery. Annie is stable and doing well. We will let you know when Maria arrives! Needless to say we may be a bit slow returning calls and messages, but we will get back to you as soon as possible!

Joe = Senior 2012

We’re getting near the end of 2012, and Joe was one of our final seniors of the year. We get to work with so many of the standout seniors in our area in both athletics and academics, and Joe was certainly no exception after a stellar season leading the Pittsburg Purple Dragons to a great 6-3 record in his final year at QB. I’m sure the highlight of the year was beating defending Class 5A state champion and then top-ranked Blue Valley (previously undefeated) 45-35 in Stilwell. I don’t know the full list of awards, but I read that Joe also got some League and All-State nods as well!

Joe was a pleasure to photograph. He couldn’t have been more laid-back for the entire session and patiently waited a few weeks so that we could finally get on the football field before dark to finish up his session. The image at top was definitely one of my favorites from 2011. Thanks Joe for a great session, and good luck the rest of your senior year!

Cole = Senior 2012

Cole has been long overdue to make his appearance on the blog. We had a great session with him in Wichita a couple of weeks ago. We battled some wind during the majority or the session that resulted in my making a costly rookie mistake when the wind took out $800 worth of gear when it smashed onto the track towards the end of the session. I’d love to blame it on Kori, but I got in a hurry and let go of the stand for half a second. I rarely leave home without an extra strobe in the car so I could finish the session without any trouble. It’s still a tough sound to hear behind your back, and you can almost feel the impact in your bones. Oh well! Anything for the shot, and that’s what insurance is for! Thanks Cole for an amazing session – good luck on the rest of your senior year!

Chase = Senior 2012

It’s always strange for me to see teachers that had me in class years after I graduated high school. Ever the respectful student, I always have the urge to continue to address them the same way I did in school. This time it was with Chase’s mom – my former Calculus teacher. It didn’t hit me until we met in the parking lot of my alma mater and the first thing that came to my lips was “Mrs. Cleland.”

Chase just signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Pitt State University, so that kind of tells you all you need to know about Chase the Athlete – he’s a stud. A three-sport standout from Northeast High made for a fun session for me to photograph. He’s a truly well-rounded kid with an aptitude for Math that he had to have gotten from Mrs. Cleland that he hopes to turn into a teaching/coaching career after college.

We had a blast working with the Clelands. It’s always flattering when people that knew me in high school STILL come to us years later. I guess I didn’t leave that bad of an impression…

Thanks guys for an amazing session – good luck with the rest of your senior year Chase!
